Product Description

China Factory Processing Stellite 6 Stellite 12 Cobalt Based Alloy Sleeve Bushing Ring for Oil Drilling
Product Overview

Stelli alloy is cobalt as the main component, containing a considerable amount of nickel, chromium, tungsten and a small amount of molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, titanium, lanthanum and other alloying elements, occasionally also contains a class of iron alloys. Depending on the composition of the alloy, they can be made into welding wire, powder for hard surface surfacing, thermal spraying, spray welding and other processes, can also be made into casting and forging parts and powder metallurgy parts.

Stari alloy castings are suitable for nuclear power, petrochemical, electric power, battery, glass, light industry, food and many other fields. It has abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and high temperature resistance. Commonly used products are spool, seat, shaft, shaft sleeve, pump parts, glass, battery mold, nozzle and cutting tools. Alloy categories are: Co base alloy castings, Ni base alloy castings, Fe base alloy castings. Stari powder metallurgy products are made of cobalt, nickel or iron based alloy atomized powder by pressing, sintering and finishing. The main products are stem, spool (ball), valve seat, valve ring, sealing ring, wood sawtooth, bearing pump, bearing ball and so on.

Stellite6 Physical Properties:

Relative density: 8.4-8.5 (g/cm³)

Hardness: 40-44 HRC(room temperature)

Stellite alloy series: Stellite3, Stellite4, Stellite6, Stellite12, Stellite19, Stellite21, Stellite23, Stellite25, Co400 and so on

Stellite6 Performance differences:

Wear and corrosion resistance: Stellite 6 offers excellent wear and corrosion resistance for applications in high wear and corrosion environments. Stellite 6B is comparable to, or even slightly improved upon, Stellite 6 in terms of wear and corrosion resistance.

Thermal stability: Stellite 6B exhibits better thermal stability at high temperatures and is able to maintain its hardness and strength. This makes Stellite 6B suitable for applications under high temperature and pressure conditions.

Hardness: Stellite 6B has a higher hardness relative to Stellite 6 due to the difference in composition. This makes Stellite 6B more suitable for applications requiring higher hardness.

Coefficient of thermal expansion: The coefficient of thermal expansion of Stellite 6 and Stellite 6B is relatively close, so the size change is more similar when the temperature changes.

Mechanical properties comparison:

Tensile Strength:

Stellite 6: Typical tensile strength ranges from 950 to 1,150 MPa.

Stellite 6B: Typical tensile strength ranges from 1,150 to 1,350 MPa.

Yield Strength:

Stellite 6: Typical yield strength ranges from 550 to 650 MPa.

Stellite 6B: Typical yield strength ranges from 800 to 1,000 MPa.

Hardness:

Stellite 6: Typical hardness ranges from 38 to 44 HRC.

Stellite 6B: Typical hardness ranges from 44 to 50 HRC.

Impact Toughness:

Stellite 6: Has high impact toughness and is suitable for some applications with high impact loads.

Stellite 6B: Has higher impact toughness and can operate under more severe impact load conditions.

Fatigue Strength:

Stellite 6: Has good fatigue strength and can withstand cyclic loads without breaking.

Stellite 6B: With higher fatigue strength, it is suitable for applications requiring longer life and higher reliability.

Preparation method

Stellite 6 alloys are prepared by a variety of methods, such as:

Powder metallurgy: cobalt, chromium, molybdenum and other metal powder and a certain amount of carbon powder mixed evenly, and then pressed forming, sintering at high temperature to obtain alloy;

Molten metallurgy: cobalt, chromium, molybdenum and other metals are heated and melted, and then an appropriate amount of carbon and other elements are added to prepare alloys;

Arc melting method: Cobalt, chromium, molybdenum and other metal strips are melted by arc heating, and then cooled to obtain alloys.

Stellite 6 alloy has good machinability and weldability, but the following points need to be noted during the welding process:

Pre-welding treatment: Before welding, Stellite 6 alloy needs to be fully pre-treated, such as cleaning the surface, removing the oxide layer, adjusting the alloy composition, etc. At the same time, it is also necessary to strictly select and prepare welding materials and welding equipment.

Welding methods: Commonly used Stellite 6 alloy welding methods include argon arc welding, plasma welding, laser welding, etc. Factors such as welding position, shape and thickness need to be considered when selecting the welding method.

Welding parameters: The selection of welding parameters will have an important impact on the quality of the weld, such as welding current, welding speed, welding gas, etc.

Post-welding treatment: After the completion of welding, it is necessary to carry out subsequent heat treatment and surface treatment, such as annealing, tempering, sandblasting, polishing, etc., to improve the quality of welding and ensure the final use performance.

Fields and Special requirements:

Applications: Stellite 6B is commonly used to manufacture parts and equipment that work in high temperature, high pressure and corrosive environments, especially in the petroleum and chemical industries.

Special requirements: Stellite 6B requires special requirements for corrosion resistance, wear resistance and high temperature strength in these applications. It needs to be able to resist the corrosion of acidic and alkaline media, as well as oxidation and erosion at high temperatures. In addition, Stellite 6B also needs to have good wear resistance in order to adapt to wear and abrasive wear operating environments

What is surface treatment and its advantages?
Surface treatment is an additional process apply cemented carbide to the surface of a material for the purpose of adding functions such as erosion resistance, corrosion resistance and wear resistance or improving the hardness,by which lower the cost compared to the cost of using entire cemented alloy, and remain the alloy good performance upon the material.

Surface treatments can be broadly classified into removal processes, such as scraping or melting the surface, and additive processes, such as painting, coating which add cemented carbide to the surface.there are four technical surface treatments we have in image below as additive processes to highly improve property of wear resistance and erosion resistance.
